Greensboro, NC skyline , Photos © 2004 Hardison & Associates, LLPGreensboro, North Carolina,  population 223,891 (2003), was settled in 1749 and incorporated in 1829.  It is the seat of  Guilford  County, in north central, NC.

Guilford County has quite a past - and you are invited to visit it!  Greensboro Historical Museum boasts 12 galleries and two restored houses showcasing the times that history was influenced by Greensboro.

In 1960, the Greensboro Sit-Ins motivated a nation.  Dolley Madison, one of our nation’s most beloved first ladies, was from the New Garden area of Greensboro.  A style setter (her turbans were copied across Europe), and an accomplished hostess, Dolley Madison is most frequently remembered for her courage.  While the British burned Washington during the War of 1812, Dolley personally saved many state papers as well as a renowned portrait of George Washington during the War of 1812.

Another native who is remembered at the Greensboro Historical Museum, is O. Henry, who invented a new genre of the American short story.  Edward R. Murrow was also born in Greensboro.

Model T travel, a world-class collection of Civil War firearms, and an exciting exhibit of furniture created by Piedmont craftsmen, are also displayed there.

Guilford Courthouse, the site of the Revolutionary War's Battle of Guilford, is a national military park.  The Natural Science Center of Greensboro offers a zoo, a Gem and Mineral Gallery, a dinosaur exhibit, and a planetarium.

Educational institutions in Greensboro, include the Univ. of North Carolina at Greensboro, Greensboro College, Guilford College, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State Univ., Brookstone College, Bennett College, and the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital School Of Radiation Technology.  Wake Forest University is an easy commute of about 32 miles.

The community is well served by Piedmont Triad Int. Airport and Air Harbor.  Easy access by state road, high employment statistics and a diversified economy make this a very desirable place to live.Greensboro Collesium, Photos © 2004 Hardison & Associates, LLP
